The way I did this is not complex, in fact it`s quite basic. I asigned the shift up/down

commands to certain parts of the throttle axis so this way it shifts according to where the

mouse cursor is. But now, when being in 2nd or 3rd speed, you get kickdown when you floor the

throttle and it shifts back up when you lift off.

When in 1st, do not move the mouse cursor to the upper edge of the screen as the car will

shift into Neutral. I have made the throttle axis so that you get full power while keeping the

cursor lower than the edge of the screen. The car shifts @ 2500 rpm, after it goes into 2nd gear,

you can move the mouse to the upper edge of the screen and you get kickdown into 1st :) (which is

quite long as the car has a 3 spd gearbox). However, you will need to lift off the gas slightly

for it to shift up, otherwise it will bounce off the rev limiter. There is also a small dial thing

on the dash above the starter button which tells you your throttle position.

Another problem is reverse. Since free shifting in the controler ini would screw things up,

you can`t asign reverse to a certain key. So, you`ll need to move the mouse to the top of the

screen several times (while keeping the handbrake pressed) until it goes into reverse.

For the car to work, you`ll need to copy the "automatic" file to your "Controls" folder in

Racer/Data. Then select it and use it. It`s set up to work with a mouse, but it can be easily adapted

to a wheel.
